After two regional competitions at Hudson Valley and Hofstra University, RoboGym is going to Nationals in Detroit! This competition will determine the winner of this year's First Robotics Competition, and our team is ecstatic to have the opportunity to compete.

Members Emma Morley (Left) , Scott Lenney (Middle) and Noelle Papous (Right) cheering on our team at the Hofstra competition!

(Right to Left) Members Mark Bishoff, Micheal Santucci, Zach Saltzman, Olivia Santucci, and Lauren Santucci in the stands. Michael holds a photo of Mr. Barr, one of last year's mentors, wearing a RoboGym shirt.

(Right to Left) Members Hanah Leventhal, Leo Wolf, and Kinsale Reilly in the pit. The pit is where robotics teams work on and store their robots during the competition.

Hanah sits on a RoboGym platform that our team uses to wheel the robot into the field.

Members and robotics mentor, Stephen Peroni, work on the robot in the pit.

Members fix the robot post-competition and troubleshoot potential problems that could arise during nationals.

The field at Hofstra University. Two alliances of three robots compete at once, gathering points by dropping power cubes (the yellow cubes seen in the bottom right corner) onto the scale (the purple object in the center of the arena) or on switches (the short, transparent prism on the right side of the arena). There are two switches- one on each side of the field- and one scale.

While the regionals were big competitions, neither Hudson Valley nor Hofstra compares to the magnitude of the national competition in Detroit. Teams from all over the world compete in nationals, from Brazil to China. RoboGym is thrilled to compete with such great teams and meet so many STEM- oriented students. Our team leaves for nationals on Tuesday, and comes back to New York on Sunday. Wish us luck!
